I try with Pokeballs first because I prefer them aesthetically, but I keep Ultra/Great balls handy for when I run out; I'm not going to just run from a mon I'm trying to catch because RNG fucked me, I'd rather catch it.

Been doing that since gen 3 OP because I didn't like anything appearing in anything other than a pokeball. The only exception I make are event pokemon since I don't have a choice or Premier Balls because I like their simplicity. I can say I didn't do it for the challenge but simply because I have balltism, sort of.

I did that up until Gen 6. Now that a parent's poke ball is passed down while breeding, I use premier balls on everything I'm going to use, even in-game.
