Articuno doesn't have to worry about sneaky peebles in 3 vs 3 and is a great win condition with its MR+SC combo. Froslass is a pokemon entirely designed around hax and status effects so her TW, Icy Wind and Destiny Bond are very effective in fast-paced metagames like VGC. Weavile is the fastest Fake Out user in the game. Mega Aboma is one of the best TR abusers. Lapras and Jynx make good use of their Water Absorb/Dry Skin ability in doubles. Rotom-F is a great Blizzard spammer in doubles (where Hail is actually decent) and so are the Kyurem formes (at leats in theory since they're banned).
There is no denying that in official formats ice types are much, much better than 6 vs 6 singles that ban all their best tools.
