This is also the time teams start using good Pokemon and not un-evolved shitmons. Plus there is that infamous difficulty spike between Cyllage and Shalour which destoys Nuzlockes on it's own.

actually, if you discount the new evolutions (since you cannot obtain them in-game without trading) and legendaries (which sinnoh had a fuckton), XY has about the same number of usable new Pokemon as DP

Second, I tend to think the problem lies in the large regional dex in itself, which creates the illusion that there is less usable new Pokemon than in aformentioned DP, which IIRC only had 200 Pokemon in it's regional dex
