You don't even need to use a greatball to use the trick on Giratina. If you're on lv. 29 you can just reset to keep on lv. 29 till you catch it (Untested but I would be shocked if it didn't work).

Yeah, it's actually a puzzle stage. You need to impress Tangrowth with a 3 combo. If you do, he gets happy and eliminates the blocks for you. There's a block in the upper left you need to switch with a block near the middle to get the 3 combo on the first turn.

You wouldn't know how easy all items is compared to home button as you never used the home button, but I've used both methods and all items is easier.
The reason the home button was removed was because home button PLUS all item was bonkers.

I switch out the wrong Pokémon all the time because it is so fucking hard to match them in air. And disruptions like to replace the one I was planning to match. Throw in black clouds and a timed level becomes a complete fuckfest.

For those of you marathoning giratina, which do you find to be more useful: a team of strong dark types headed up by mega gengar or mega banette's ghostly crew featuring yveltal?

I've tried both (just beat stage 25) and so far I prefer mega gengar as a mega banette team takes a little while to get going what with its slow mega evolution.

By the way, how is the Mega Speedup stored in the data? Is it put in there in a way that looks like different enhancement items will be added in the future? (for example, an item that upgrades attacks into those ++++ moves that were added recently)

first clear of SP46 gives 1000 coins
first clear of SP47 gives 1 DD
first clear of SP48 gives 1 MS
first clear of SP49 gives nothing (or alternately a Mega speedup)
first clear of SP50 gives Mega speedup (or alternately a nothing)
first clear of SP51 gives Mega speedup

Also if it's not too hare could you look for the HP growth rate in the data? For the third pattern (SP47) it should be 60 (or 59).

It optimizes mega separately from the rest of the team, and will pick the strongest in terms of power after the bonus from super effective. Clicking it multiple times cycles through. Does not take into account abilities, so you can get Nidoking instead of Nidoqueen even though the latter has the better ability and they have the same power, especially if you don't notice it a few times and Nidoking levels up past Nidoqueen.

Mega Speedup is, internally, "Item 8".

The items, by index:

-Time +10
-EXP Points *1.5
-Mega Start
-Complexity -1
-Disruption Delay
-Attack Power Up

Prizes are as follows:
-Prize Type 1: Jewels (param: num)
-Prize Type 2: Hearts (param: num)
-Prize Type 3: Coins (param: num)
-Prize Type 4: Items (param: ID, param: num)

Having more than one of a mega stone doesn't do anything special.

The game only has 8 item descriptors indexed, but it would actually be relatively simple for them to add a new item in an update.

This, there's a trick to the first half: never fail to make at least a 2-combo (ideally focusing on the right side, since it has more Pokémon and no blocks). If you can do that, Giratina will not perform disruptions for that half of the fight.

DD and +5 Moves are probably the most economical solution. If not confident, DD and Attack Power will see you through.

Thing is, its disruptions are both random and obnoxious at 50+, so there's decent odds all your good options will be cut off from the word go any time you start the fight up. Making it to 100 will cost a pretty penny, or all the luck there has ever been. Probably a little of both.

You're.. kinda fucked. M-Gengar is nowhere near effective as M-Ban + 2 Ghosts. Yvetal is the highest attack power Dark type too.

I guess you can use Absol and trigger a bunch of Mind Zaps, but that's very, very, very luck based in this shithole of a level.

Col 1,2,5,6 are frozen and 6 Metal block are above col 1,2. An unknown (more then 6, probably 12) number of wooden block above col 3.
As for the timers, it complicated, sometimes he just freezes stuff without warning. He does have a normal timer that starts at half health (I think), 4 ice or one col. iced every 3 turn.

40-49 has a fixed layout.
*Two rows of barriered Pokémon on both sides.
*The left center row has a full column of breakable blocks just above the first column of Pokémon.

For the first 9 turns, Giratina retaliates to *any move that doesn't result in a combo* with a full column disruption.
For the second 9 turns (and also immediately on turn 9, obviously) it produces 4 barriers, but ceases to retaliate.

50+ is not fixed at all, but does add a Shaymin to the mix (good idea to level it, if only so it's less of a liability). Disruptions include, with no rhyme or reason as to what they are, either one or two at a time (also randomly) on a 3 turn timer (and also at start):
*A full column of unbreakable blocks.
*4 barriers

There appears to be a hidden cooldown on its use of the unbreakable block column, but I can't confirm.

Beating 50 is quite possible without Mega Banette. The hardest stages for someone without Mega Banette are 30-39 (well, and 50, but just spend coins), as the disruptions there favor that Mega and a ghostly team quite strongly. Will still be doable, but you'll have to be very sure to handle those Barriers as they come up. 40-49, Banette and Gengar are practically interchangeable.

For the past few levels I've been using M-banette, Lampent, Chandeulre, Yvetal to get the most chances for Mega boost. I may switch Lampent or Yvetal out for Giratina though.

From what I've heard, with your team you should be able to go a bit farther just using DD, but you will eventually require DD and Attack Power up. Adding in +5 turns and/or Mega Start may also be mandatory, depending on your skill and how far you've gone already. Honestly, on 100 you're probably better off also grabbing Complexity -1 just to be sure.

It's one thing to start the stage with a bunch of blocks, but the constant disruptions from zero seconds means you can't always do the obvious set-up to get them out of the way.

Finally beat stage 50. First try I came kind of close, then I tried with a free disruption delay and failed. Then I bought a DD and moves +5 and won with 5 moves remaining. Meaning I didn't actually need the moves +5.
The problem isn't that it requires 50 DD, it's that sometimes luck will screw you and you will need moves +5. And you will never know when you're gonna need it. If it was just "pay for 50 DD and you can beat levels 51-100" I wouldn't have a problem. But now that I know it will cost more than that, I'm not so sure about doing this.

I just realized that Mega-Banette only erases either gengar or giratina, not both (contrary to what its mega effect description leads you to believe). It was very disappointing to match mega-B and only remove 4 random pokes. I think I might switch to back to Mega-Gengar as it evolves much faster and just buying DD's isn't cutting it right now, I need more immediate power.

Both that and Mega Boosters are probably important, since if Banette doesn't evolve early it'll be very hard to get it going once the field's locked down.

Giratina's Power of 4+ does crazy damage, so that's something to consider, but again, how often are you going to get to use it when you only have two or three columns to work with?

It's too late. The addiction has seeped into the core of my being.

I've had the game since it launched. I've been in every shuffle thread. I've logged 167~ hours on the game and have caught every mon and won every prize (without home button/shufflemove). I've S ranked everything released except xerneas, genesect, and regirock (giratina's kept me too busy to do the new main stages though). And I have yet to spend a cent.

I've got 20 jewels (none from streetpass), which I think is the most you can have without paying/getting streetpass/homepass. I was hanging on to them because I thought an item/upgrade would come out that would cost jewels and until this week I thought it would be the mega startup candies. Now that I know this escalation battle is the only way to get them (so far) I'm willing to spend a few jewels if I have to.

I can only go further down this rabbit hole. I'll say it again, it's too late for me. But others will hopefully see me as a cautionary tale and stay away from games with microtransactions.

Made it to stage 59, waiting for hearts to regen. Most of the time I'm forced to get moves +5 and DD if I want to guarantee the win. I've only passed with just a DD twice since hitting 50. It looks like spending jewels is gonna be necessary. Either that or I set my alarm clock to go off every two and a half hours for the next week.

The board starts with a shitload of Frogadier behind barriers that can't be removed.
To get rid of them you'll need a barrier bash pokémon or have to use a mega start. To that end try bringing Slowbro, it starts with barrier bash.

M-Banette (Lv.MAX, 2 speedups), Yveltal (Lv.MAX), Gengar (Lv.MAX) and Giratina (Lv. 6), Shaymin (Lv. 6).
Priority number one is to Mega evolve Banette as fast as possible.
ShuffleMove is a great tool, but don't trust it blindly, especial since it doesn't have an option to sort by filling the mega bar, and Po4+ isn't implemented (Matches that are worth more than it alone are extremely rare).

I'm at level 68. Using Mega Gengar. So far I've had a good win rate with DD, but some levels cut it close if you don't get good combos. My main concern is how much health it gains as you level up. I worry not even +5 moves will help since once the disruptions start appearing you lose all momentum anyway.

I wouldn't waste my time with Giratina's last 50 stages, it'll just be too expensive.

If you've already beaten Giratina level 50, I'd focus on the main and expert stages now. You still have 12 days of Giratina left if you really want to try.
