if you are referring to either the announcement of pokken for wii u or GO then that has been pretty much been tired. Gamefreak never promised a main game announcement during any of those events.
that being said, with the announcement of GO I believe they are plotting the way for the next main series game. you see, Third versions are not AS popular as the main initial releases of a Generation. they are popular, they just aren't AS popular. With the release of B2/W2 they have shaken things up, and I think they are doing the same here. They are teasing, and in a way, subliminally promoting the next games with the XY&Z anime, The conversion of Tretta to Tretta ultimate Z and so on. they are keeping us on our toes like that one guy who teased us with "flowers" said.
we are due for something VERY soon. it's just a matter of when, not if, but things are going to be done differently this time around. for a lot of people, Different is a trigger.
