Nintendo owns like the majority share of the Pokémon IP. Game Freak literally aren't allowed to make a Pokémon game on a non-Nintendo console (unless Nintendo gives them permission like with GO or the Shuffle mobile port). The 3DS may not have printed as much money as the DS but it still sold a ton and Pokémon is still one of the highest selling games on the system. Nintendo has no reason to stop making handhelds and no reason to throw out one of their top sellers for those handhelds.

3DS sales weren't that great. People are starting to see that it isn't worth it to buy Nintendo handhelds just for pokemon.

If Game Freak wanted to make Pokémon mainline games on iOS they would've done it already. They clearly want to.

TPCi and POK are owned by TPC, and TPC is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures.

The only place where Nintendo manages Pokémon 100% is in Australia (neither TPC or TPCi operate there).

Honestly, I'd be extremely interested to see Nintendo develop smartphone, or even handheld systems that also serve as phones. If people are starting to realize carrying both a phone and a 3DS is a pain, why not make their 3DS into a viable phone?

The closest I'd predict is a free to play version of Fire Red/Leaf Green to serve as a glorified ad for the main games on nintendo.

I ironically came up with this idea the night before GO was announced, but I wasn't even aware an announcement of anything major was coming, so it was totally out of the blue to me.

3DS sales are low because you're comparing 2014 statistics of a console that was released in 2007. And the 3DS was a flop in the beginning, and the n3DS is a much better console.

Why the fuck would they waste it on that? A big budget Kanto remake for consoles is like an FF7 Remake for Nintendo. Make no mistake, something like that would still easily bring back its budget. They just don't want to do it, yet. It's THE one game that everyone has been asking for, but they just keep dodging it by saying they're content as is, since they aren't desperate enough yet.

Can't remember were i read it but the split of TPC is apparently like this:

32-33% Nintendo
33% Creatures
33-34% GF

Creatures is the only consistent one i've seen, but GF is the biggest shareholder of TPC. That said Nintendo also has admited they own part of Creatures effectively making them the majority owners of Pokemon.

Really now? Not to mention the fucking spinoffs you speak of barely even have their own identities compared to PMD or Snap. It's like extremely watered down mainline experience, but on your TV!

Not even sure why you bring up the Wii U when Nintendo games sell anyways on that thing even tho only 10m people bought it. Can only imagine the situation being even better on the NX considering they moved all their big 3DS/WiiU projects there already.
