It should still be obtainable through regular in-game means, and i say this having injected all the event mons and legendaries with perfect IVs n all that

But the purpose of event mons are be special, Mew was a great success in Gen 1 because you couldn't get one, so if a event distributed it somewhere, it would encourage people to go there.

Diancie encouraged people to go see the movie in theaters in japan.
