Is it really though? I mean Pokémon is a huge franchise, I think one could get away with releasing a game out of the blue if it had a name as big as Pokémon's.

the hype train is what sells the games, not the actual games themselves so no an early release will never happen

Maybe for Pokemon but as you can see Nintendo clearly plans something like that for some of their titles.

The hype train around Zygarde is growning since July though.... Just saying....

eh i didn't see much hype for Zygarde, only when the new forms were revealed and even then it was still like 1/4th of the hype when XY and Hoenn remakes were confirmed
And besides the new forms we really don't have much to talk about that's already been confirmed

Christmas sales would deffo help not to fail (since it is a risk) but seeing how they went full force with promoting Zygarde (at least in Japan but not only) maybe it might be the case

Yeah Pokemon fanbase was on the hype train since July when the shadow of Perfect Zygarde was shown. After that the hype was bigger with every month.

it does seem unlikely but at the same time why would they promote Zygrade formes (not to mention all this merch coming out in Japan) if the game isnt around the corner, its not even announced?

Eh, remember how early Togepi's egg showed up in the anime? There was a substantial time gap between that and the release of GS. Hell, Togepi was around long enough that he was in that little Pikachu short before the second movie along with Snubull and a couple other new pokemon that was still a long while before GS release. They've hyped Zygarde formes for a while now, revealed the title of the next part of the series as XY&Z a while after that, and now it's probably going to be a big announcement sometime soon to capitalize on all the hype and tell us exactly what we'll be getting.

The thing is Togepi was just a small mon and Ho-Oh was just a short single tease (it wasnt even shown clearly).

Thois time Zygarde formes were officially revealed and they're the main focus of the latest anime (the new series is basically Zygarde-centric). If nothings announced soon that just weird unless they're tryinh to bulid some enormous hype around it because of the 20th annivesary
