Am I the only one who doesnt get the hate over ORAS and X/Y?

I mean, Ive been playing every game since the first one came out and I feel they are fine pokemon games. Literally everything seems improved from game to game.

I just dont get why people call GF lazy or yell at them for making great games. It seems weird to me

I liked X/Y and ORAS was pretty good but it did feel lazy to me. No trainer customization no real post game except that really unfun quest and the XP share does trivialize the games a bit. So I can see why people would be disappointed in them; plus this is 4chan sometimes we hate stuff collectively for no reason usually new and otherwise popular stuff.

I personally don't mind the XP share being there either but I think you can make a pretty good argument for it cheapening the game simply by existing. When the game offers you a big shortcut like that it's almost like the game is saying "I don't want you to have to put effort into this". So even if you get through the game the XP share you can argue that getting through the game is less valuable because the XP share can make it easier. Again I don't really agree with it but I think it's a legitimate complaint.

I turn off the Exp Share, but I really do wish that they'd just save it until the end of the game. I also dislike that they gave you way too much easy free stuff. Mega Latias in the middle of the game with a mega stone, no effort necessary? Come on, that's ridiculous.

Yeah, I box the free pokemon as well. I don't mind having a mega stone, I just wish they'd give them to more trainers. For postgame, I just want something more than Maison. It's pretty much the Battle Tower, and that's been around forever. Frontier wasn't perfect, but I still liked some of the gimmicks. That, and I'd like them to add stuff like Little Cup or other sorts of styles like Stadium would.

If you want a simple answer. Some people just take the games way too seriously. Just look at the Smash Bros community.

With ORAS. The majority of them are just having their online tantrums because gamefreak decided not to spoon feed their sweet nostalgic battle frontier to them and tried something new like the Delta Episode. Some are also triggered that they tweaked up the story and characters differently to the original, even though in the beginning they were begging for trainer customization to migrate onto the Hoenn trainers who were iconic visually to gen 3, which they also didn't get into the game. Even seen a few people complain about Super Secret bases because you can make it like a gym but not give out custom made badges. They do all this while gamefreak make it rain while having pockets filled with their money because in the end they still bought it. ORAS was a fun game and made really great sales just like X&Y.

I can see some understanding with being a bit disappointed with X&Y though. Felt it did fall a bit flat in some places. Still consider them alright games and enjoyed playing them seeing how previous Generations have done worse like D/P. Platinum was the only thing that did it some justice by being the installment with added improvements and bonus post game to D/P, and some even still consider that a stretch. So in comparison X&Y did pretty nicely and gave us exactly what we should expect in a pokemon game, more or less.

ORAS was your XY :hoenn version with rushed content by your "one year of development".

Its too hard to enjoy a game you could hand to a 5 year old who has never played Pokemon before and him walk through with ease. Even with exp share and giving yourself a weak af team the games are too easy.

Nah. I feel the same. I honestly don't understand how you can hate any Pokemon game, because the core gameplay is always there, gets expanded on each generation, and is always rewarding. If you don't enjoy it, then you probably just don't like Pokemon and are playing the games out of obligation or spite.

My least favorite game is third gen, because I just feel the region and Pokemon are the weakest, but it's still not a bad game by any means.

XY was the first time in ages that people were legitimately excited about pokemon again. The hype for the starter mons and whatnot. Obviously that's all over now and the only thing left is the classic 4chan 'it's shit xD'

Sprites have a lot of appeal, but BW 2x the back sprites and badly tweening the movement lost a fair bit of that charm. Crystal is the ideal, honestly.

BW's up there as one of my favorites though.

People hyped up ORAS to be on the same level as HGSS in improvements or even exceed that. I believe many expected Emerald with extras but instead got Ruby/Sapphire with extras.

Though many things like a lot of the assets and the engine are already done thanks to XY, the remakes have to factor in and integrate like three generations worth of Pokemon and other things and mechanics from them on top of taking some liberties and brand new shit in the process, FRLG and HGSS had to catch up with only two generations each. Like holy fuck, ORAS does have a ton of catchable Pokemon from every region in the game.

Personally some complaints I'd agree with are the lack of difficulty and lack of change in scenery. Hoenn still looks unnaturally blocky as hell, XY not so much since they were originally built around the engine.

How many of you actually liked more than half of the Emerald Frontier's facilities?

It's not really hate for me, it's disappointment. On their own Gen 6 games aren't bad compared to a lot of the shit coming out today in the JRPG genre, but they really dropped the ball compared to Gen 4 and 5.

The games are insultingly easy (even for an already-easy game series), tons of handholding everywhere (though BW2 started this trend), tons of gift Pokémon, in XY your rivals never let you breathe, and neither of the games have any fun postgame, which is especially sinful for ORAS where Hoenn is known as the region with hands-down the the best postgame. Once I beat XY there wasn't anything for me to do besides bike simulator and finishing the dex, and ORAS was exactly the same (and I had already finished my living dex with XY so other than updating my set of Legendaries to have pentagons there wasn't anything for me to do regarding the Dex). XY are lackluster (maybe Z will fix them though), and ORAS are inferior to the version of the game that came out ten years ago.

How far did you have to reach into your ass to come up with something like this? Your defense is that people take the games way too seriously? I mean, what a convenient way of ignoring legitimate criticism.

I mean, how can anyone look at a game like pokémon and not want greater variety in how battles are performed, like in the Frontier?

ORAS, like HGSS, have some serious flaws that weren't fixed. Not only that, but ORAS adds some more flaws to the already existing flaws in RSE.

To be fair, BW started this trend. To cite two specific examples

Those two are in my mind worse than anything encountered in BW2. Not that BW2 isn't guilty as fuck though, that's not what I'm saying. Still like BW2 though, but for other reasons than that.

Maybe I don't remember those two things in BW1 because they're far apart, while BW2 bombarded you with it. A couple isolated incidents doesn't bug me as much as not being able to breathe at all for the first quarter of the game.

This is pretty self-explanatory in itself, but I'd just like to add that things that would otherwise seem important aren't treated as such, particularly when it comes to your Trainer Card. I'm still wondering why secret base flags or contest wins weren't included in ORAS for your Trainer Card completion. Also they've made it so that you need to see all the pokemon in the Regional dex to get an upgrade to your Card instead of catching them all, which is good because of the sheer scale of the National dex, but I don't understand why it wasn't necessary to catch all the regional ones for it. It's just those kinds of things that make the games seem less like wondrous worlds to enjoy like they were in other generations.
