Most other Legendaries are either my mom's animal (Ho-oh, Xerneas) or just dragons with geometric shapes all over them.
Try thinking of what you want for a theme for a Legendary Trio, and based on that theme, make some mon that follow that theme. Keep it simple and unique and don't resort to pasting shit all over them to compensate for lack of design.
If you want to do a jungle god type legend, you may be on the right track with a bird or Quetzalcoatl type thing, although Ho-oh already did that. So create your own creature, maybe reminiscent of Q, but not literally just a Sugified bird of paradise like Ho-oh or just a birdlike figure with streamers/leaves all over it.
All this being said, I'm not saying I could do anything better, I'm just calling them as I see them.
All THAT being said, Ho-oh and Xerneas aren't even bad Pokemon. Neither are the geometry dragons. Fug is actually my favorite Legend even over Mewtwo and Lugia. Even if there isn't necessarily a lot of thought put into a concept, it can still come out looking fucking spectacular. Zekrom (literally just a dragon) or even Charizard (literally just a dragon/dinosaur with its tail on fire).
