Life Orb Feraligatr with Sheer Force will hit harder than its mega form. Just like regular Garchomp is better than its mega, since it's faster and can use an item like Choice Scarf/Band or Rocky Helmet.

It's been raising for 12 years straight and trying to contain it is more damaging than not (see: gen 6 VGC being centralized as fuck since gems got removed and special moves nerfed, making weaker mons unable to get KOs), so they should just give it the gen 5 treatment and try making everyone good.

Banette doesn't use its Ability offensively, and lacks the bulk to survive that first turn. That's why it's shit. Mega Gatr can take that one turn easy.

If it can't do anything the base form does better, it isn't worth the slot. M-Ttar and M-Scizor are weaker than their base forms, but have niches like DDance or Defensive sets to make up for their lack of power. What would a theoretical M-Feraligatr do with it's movepool if it's weaker than LO SF Feraligatr?

I give it the mega stone and take another mega on my team b/c gyarados becomes a different pokemon entirely when mega evo so i can choose to evolve it or not depending on my needs. sure i lose the item slot sometimes but that versatility really helps thx to the ability and type switch. before oars i ran Ddance, taunt, earthquake and waterfall. Sometimes ill switch in Crunch for stab if i feel i need it over earthquake when i build teams around it

I suspect that they were trying to make Charizard-X what it was for the fans that played Red and Blue when they were young, essentially making it a "neo-Charizard" of sorts. Charizard-Y would then appeal to older fans by giving them more of what they loved about the original Charizard, but actually usable and not inferior to other similar Fire types.
