>>24652872I've put the idea forward in some of those "If you were in charge of the next generation what would you do" threads that pokemon should start having variants outside of formes and shinies that come in three variables. For example an Arcanine would have a small assortment of manes, patterns and eyes. It can have a standard mane, extra fluffy, or sleek and streamlined. It can have standard stripes, thicker stripes or a stripeless variety. Then it can have normal eyes, more intense, angry eyes or large, happy eyes. All of these can be bred for on top of shininess so you can breed for a really custom pokemon. Each mon would have three variables, be it fang size/shape, patterns, hair, eyes, mouth or other prominent features, with 3-5 different options for each variable depending on the mon, though some might have many more as a sort of gimmick for them, like Vivillon, or a cat pokemon that comes in various patterns and color combinations. Even better if there's 3-4 similar base colors (a range of oranges/yellows for Arcanine for example) that each have a shiny variant attached. Normal color has normal shiny, a different base color might produce a wildly different shiny though. Combine all that and you can breed for specific traits and base color plus stats, then go for a shiny to get a really unique pokemon based on your personal taste. It would add a lot of fun to breeding and hunting, not to mention adding some challenge back into breeding now that IV, HA and pokeball inheritance is super easy.
