I never see anyone screaming that playing the original Super Mario Bros is a waste of time just because it doesn't have shit like ground pounding. That's not the point of wanting to play Super Mario Bros in the first place. Same case applies here.

You can complete the Pokédex in Gen I with just one copy each of Red and Blue. Sure, you'd need multiple saves for stuff like the starters, the Eeveelutions, and the birds, but it can be done.

With Yellow, though, you'd need both other versions to complete the Pokédex, as some Pokémon are exclusive to Red or Blue.

So, with Red, you can complete the Dex with just Blue, and with Blue, you can complete the Dex with just Red, but for Yellow, you'll need Pokémon can be found only in Red AND only in Blue.

Say you're on Red version, and you chose Bulbasaur. You trade over a Squirtle that you got in Blue, but now you need a Charmander, so you delete the file where you got Squirtle and then choose Charmander. Of course, you'll have to play up until you get Eevee to get all the Eeveelutions, too (I mentioned the birds is that post you quoted but I fucked up majorly).

Unless you were talking about Yellow, where you can get all the starters just by progressing through the game.

Not being able to ground pound in mario was intentional, unlike all the bugs and glitches in R/B/Y. Not to mention it doesn't deter from any enjoyment. There's no NEED to ground pound in that game, it wasn't designed with it in mind. Slogging through menus for your PC, waiting for it to save every time you want to change a box, moving at a snails pace, and all around bad design choices do deter from enjoyment, regardless of whether or not it's an "old" game.

Super Mario Bros has aged well for an old game, Pokemon R/B/Y hasn't.

Yellow > Gold > Silver > Red/Blue > Green, imo

I will say though, Silver has some sprites that blow the Gold sprites out of the water, so I consider them pretty close.

They're not remakes. Fire Red and Leaf Green were remakes. These are re-releases.

They have already confirmed they're making some adjustments to the original game (like local wireless), but whether they make any other changes are anyones' guess.

RBY's item management problems come from the fact that everything is crammed into a single bag. That means key items, HMs, poké balls etc. GSC's bag split was a great help in that regard

The problem does not come from limited space. That just makes you think about what to carry. And that is not inherently negative.

Why are everyone so fucking pissed by the fact that they're releasing these as VC games? I can't remember any other fanbase reacting this way to any other games coming to VC. If people stopped and considered the idea that they don't have to buy these games, and that they can freely emulate them if they want, all these issues disappear.

Then again, most of you are probably just funposting. If so, please kill yourself.

That pic does summarise a LOT of problems. And although a few of them like recovery move failure are almost certainly not going to be encountered unless you go out of your way to find them, & others like Disable/Mimic don't matter at all, there's still a lot of really broken shit in there.
Seeing as the articles I've seen say the games are going to be 'recreated to be as true to the originals as possible' I'm hoping the fundamental mechanics are going to be different enough to avoid this sorta shit

Also granted Fire Spin is usually an extremely high level move, but you never got wrapped or put to sleep by the AI? They'll do it again pretty quickly most of the time.

And let's not forget the final battle in the game's movesets.

RBY were an utter mess which is probably why they're taking so long to put it out. Anyway if you're going to put a lot of effort into fixing shit you might as well put in the effort to add wireless and enable the main features.
