>>24643285>but I can't see anyone legitimately preferring FR/LG or OR/AS to HG/SS.I prefer FrLg to HGSS and ORAS. The reason for this is that both ORAS and HGSS fails to fix the actual flaws of the games they're remaking. ORAS especially, but I won't go into too much detail.
Gen II had a variety of new features when it launched. This is what made it so memorable, you came out of gen I and you had all these things like breeding, day/night, held items to name some. The only thing HGSS does in that regard is pokémon following you, and while nice enough, it's not enough to really make it feel special. Meanwhile, the level curve of HGSS is still fucking crap, the wild pokémon are severly underleveled at times, especially in the later part. The same goes for trainers. The new gen II pokémon are not nearly used enough (and would make for some decent changes in the team for more variety).
ORAS on the other hand struggles to hold a decent framerate in battle (like XY), a major annoyance unlike gen III in general. It has the retarded exp share (inb4 don't use it, what a fucking terrible argument that is) and Delta episode is quite frankly the worst thing I have ever experienced in a main series pokémon game bar none. Not to mention the numerous water routes are still boring as hell with virtually no pokémon variety in them.
FrLg on the other hand does exactly what it sets out to do. The pacing in the originals were hardly terrible if you ask me, and FrLg retains this. It has something new to explore (Seviis), while hardly an immense new area, it's new and at least somewhat exciting.
HGSS aren't really bad, but they are not really that great either. The same cannot be said for ORAS, but that's not the point of this thread. The point is that HGSS is somewhat overrated and this affects the prices. In addition to walker of course.
