>>24660901Eh, I don't think you can really compare the two honestly. Pokemon is just too broad of a spectrum of creatures, with some based on actual animals, others based on mythical creatures/yokai, objects, concepts and all sorts of other things. They're all supposed to be unique, original monsters. Yokai watch is specifically based on traditional yokai lore with some original creatures tossed in, but still fitting with the theme of Japanese folklore. They have a very specific subset of creatures and themes to work with and a unique style that differentiates it from pokemon. If they branched out more and the style was different then people would bitch that it ripped off pokemon. Different strokes kinda thing here.
Personally, I like the Yokai watch creatures. Some of them are ugly, yeah, but so are a good chunk of pokemon in my opinion. Some are cute, and others are just cool looking, but I enjoy the style. It's a different enough game and setting that I don't see why people are pitting them against each other and trying to make one out to be better than the other. They're similar, but not THAT much. Jibanyan and Pikachu can easily coexist if the ridiculous fanboys stop trying to pit them against each other.
