How do so many people misspell this Pokemon's name?

Also, why do people think it's a "dinosaur" and not a toad? Just because it's English name ends in "saur"?

Even if you don't clearly see it's toad-like characteristics somehow, it has been stated that the Kanto starters were based on a toad, a lizard, and a turtle-- common Japanese housepets.

Venosaur would actually work fine thematically. It's a venomous dinosaur. Its flower isn't even a venus fly trap, it's a rafflesia.

And turtles don't have ears like Blastoise. Pokemon generally aren't one for one replicas of the things they're based on.

I said it hops. I didn't say its primary mode of transportation is hopping. I then provided an animated gif of it hopping in Gen 5. It also is in mid-hop in many of its in-game sprites.

English costumization. Venusaur (the whole Bulbasaur line) actually don't have anything to do with dinosaurs, or toads for that matter. They're supposed to be bizarre, as in, a mix of various creatures. Kinda like if you imagine you'd pull on of those plants and find out there was a living animal underneath that connected to the plant.
The bulba line look standard reptilian and also amphibian, but they also have ears and canines which only mammals have.
The french name for this Pokemon best captures it. Herbizarre. The japanese name is a pun as in "Vine", "Herb", etc with a pun with "What's is it?". Because we don't know what it is.
