The rendering techniques now are much better so in general it looks nicer with models and environments, but the animation is really poor. Idle animations, move animations, getting hit animations etc are all far behind what Stadium was doing. And even beyond the bad animation in Gen VI many Pokemon were really butchered by the transition to 3D with some having outright inaccurate models.
It's the first time out for their transition to 3D so I'll give them a bit of a pass. But Gen 7 really needs to step up its game big time or it just wont be acceptable.
