Hey /vp/.
This is what I've spent my Friday night doing.
Overall, there were a lot of things that you would expect.
Ubers and OU have a large proportion of Generation 3 Pokemon because ORAS/XY introduced a lot of very strong Gen 3 Pokemon, such as Mega Salamence, Mega Mawile, and Primal Groudon/Kyogre in Ubers, and Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and Azumarill.
A lot of Generation 2 Pokemon are kind of bad, so a large proportion of Gen 2 is in UU or BL2.
Generation 4 had a lot of cross-generation evolutions, and so it has the lowest percentage of NFE/LC Pokemon.
However, I did gain some new knowledge.
Generation 1 seemed to be a region of extremes, with half of its Pokemon in PU, RU, and BL4, and being tied for first in OU Pokemon. This probably has more to do with Gen 1 Megas though.
It was not surprising to find that Generation 6 was one of the most balanced, with the difference between its lowest and highest represented tiers only being 14%. Generation 6 has the least Pokemon of any generation, so the legends, pseudo-legends, and other strong Pokemon take up a larger proportion of its Pokedex. What was surprising was that the next most balanced region was Gen 5, with the most Pokemon of any generation. Gen 5 is second last for percent of Pokemon in PU. It seems that although Gen 5 had so many Pokemon, Game Freak excelled at making most of them not absolute garbage, something the earlier gens could not accomplish. It's possible that this is because earlier generations often had joke Pokemon, such as Farfetch'd and Spinda, while most Gen 5 Pokemon had some usable stats.
What do you think, /vp/?
