Like I was saying in an older thread.
It's very very unlikely they edited the actual rom, rather they built an emulator that allows the wireless function, which spoofs the rom into thinking its a link cable. Expecting them to do any kind of revamp to the code, like for stat overhaul and shit, is wishful thinking.

And to answer more specifically, building that link cable emulator is little effort, considering we already have emulators thst do that. Editing the rom isn't as simple a changing a few lines of code. They'd be putting in way more effort to edit the rom thst it's worth to them.

It's an old game that has its flaws just like every other game series. As the series progresses features get added, mechanics get changed and quality improves.

Every time someone posts anything about red and blue you get someone posting the chart about everything wrong with the original games that everyone who actually played them know about.

Because people are gonna be playing a unmodded Gen 1 on an unmoddable component.

Even normies know better to at least play RBY/GSC/RSEFRLG on their tablets or smart phones, where you have access to emulation settings, mods, link cable spoofing, control mapping, better battery life, better portability etc.
