Why exctly was this mofo demoted to a gym leader? Could've at least become an e4 member. Seriously, how will the league have challengers if a gym leader was a former champion.

Giovanni left the league which means they needed a gym leader, and since they already had 4 elite four members, someway or another Gary got the position for being Champion already.

If it's true than gym leaders adapt to the level of their opponent, then there's no problem.
Though at his maximum he's still tougher than the official champion, but well, they didn't think that much I suppose.

This brings up a lot of questions on how the league hierarchy works. Wouldn't it be more logcal if they made blue an e4 member and demoted the ice hotti instead to a gym leader in order to preserve the credibility of the positions.
