I just watched the hoopa movie and holy shit what a shitfest it was, it was rushed badly, retarded music playing in the background throughout the WHOLE movie and somehow ash knew that Lucia would listen to him when it came out same for rayquaza/latios/latias, not to mention that half of the clips were just thrown out. Greninja would take a big beating and in this extremely stressfull situation Ash and greninja's goal and feeling would be the same and they would be able to transform or wtf it's called. They would give Alain a run for his money before team flare decides to retreat and Alain come with them which ends the fight in a tie. Alain knows about Ash and how powerfull he is. Ash has a reason to beat Shota in the league. Greninja gets a build up.
This would be my dream plot. But who knows what based director has in mind.

Its too bad they dropped the whole female co-star thing after DP. I guess with Serena being a love interest they don't want her to get as much screentime as Ash.
