Digimon is nowhere near as good when it comes to games.
I prefer Digimon anime to Pokemon anime in general, but some of the Digimon seasons have been pretty damn shit too.

Is the new Digimon Tri movie good? I haven't got around to watch it yet.

Watch it for nostalgia. Be aware that the animation is not bretty good. It gets pretty obvious that it was made to appeal to the oldies that grew up with it and nothing else.

Digimon designs are fucking awful. They're forgettable, often overdesigned, the evolutions are too random and confusing to have the same charm as the pokemon evolutions, and a lot of the time they follow the same pattern of blob->cutesy animal->bigger meaner animal -> bigger meaner animal with clothes or armor -> suddenly a mecha

if Digimon were actually better than Pokemon it would be FAR more successful than it is now. The only thing Digimon does better is anime. The ashnime is fucking shit.
