It's actually sort of rare to Mega Evolve in this game, even if you tried.

It's level anmd access to this version's evolution spot, not age. In the epilogue, they could tell right away that a certain pokemon is a kid even though it's a legendary.

like a 3, the three most dangerous moves in this game are:

1. Room-hitting moves
2. Multihit moves
3. AoE status effect moves

Quick Guard doesn't protect against most of this

I still call bullshit. The main character is more mature than half the NPCs you see in the game. Both Mew and Swirlix act like fucking 5 year olds yet they're around level 40.

Okay, so the story never takes you anywhere else in the world aside from that one mission on the Air Continent.

Why? Like, I noticed that the postgame missions all take place on the other three continents, which I assume is to get you to purchase the passes if you didn't already, but like, why were these places not used during the story itself? The whole world's supposed to be in danger from the petrification thing and the sun_____ and all that business, but we never get to see any of it. It's like they had a single continent like PMD usually does, and that would have been "the world", and then they tacked the rest on.

Are you both nutters? I never said "new" continent. I know that the game decided to include the ones from the old games as cheap, unexplained fanservice.

What I'm saying is that even though the game tries to play up the whole "oh no, the whole planet is in peril" deal, you never actually get to see any of it. You do one mission on the Air Continent and it's never used again outside of the non-story content (no, seacave and oldcrumbly don't count), and you never go to the other places to check on any other legendaries as they're getting turned to stone. Instead the game skips over everything, and immediately defaults to going to Entei's pad to see if he's the bad guy. It wants me to believe the whole world is in danger yet it never wants to leave the home continent.

Again, it's basically the same as the last few towns. I get it's supposed to be you visiting the previous continents but it's nothing more than an annoying step as you have to travel to the sand continent to pick up hoopa and then wherever else to actually enter the dungeon.

So, TOP RIGHT is a map of the Grass continent, which is the world from PMD2. Yet, look at the map, Temporal tower and the hidden lands are cut off.

Yet, BOTTOM RIGHT is the Sea of wonders, and Temporal tower is included.

Does this mean we can go to Temporal tower post game?

Don't use them until you get the Water Looplet, if you equip the water looplet and throw a vitamin towards your other pokemon, they will both get the stat boost.

Nope, no Temporal Tower.

Actually, that's another complaint I have about the continents, barely any of the old dungeons return. It's like, the continents are shaped the same, but that's the only similarity outside of throwaway cameos that don't mean anything. Mystery Jungle is a nice callback but that's it.

That being said, I'm going through the OST right now on Youtube and a lot of the DLC tracks are music from the older games, like Mt. Steel, At the Beach at Sunset, Hidden Land, and Through the Sea of Time. Maybe we'll see dungeons from the older games as DLC? It'd certainly be better than Gates' DLC.

Those songs are leftovers from Gates only for the Jukebox feature in this game. No remixes either save for like 4 songs that are already there in the beginning of the Jukebox. (And 1 for a post game dungeon)

I honestly haven't got the foggiest idea. Apparently Dialga's Fight to the Finish is remastered in the same way (just the same chiptune in higher quality rather than fully remixed), and it plays when you fight Dialga.

So... it's not DLC music at all, or something? I don't get it.

The DLC in Gates to Infinity were dungeons, but they also included 2 past tracks in every package of DLC. The free one on launch contained Mt. Steel and vs. Rayquaza. Every subsequent one are ones you see in the game files for PSMD right now.

It's not like they were lazy, it's that they are actually pretty important songs in past games and since they've already done the conversion to 3DS files, it was probably they're good idea to use them in the Jukebox for PSMD.

If you're just evolving yourself and partner, talk to Lapras and ask her to take you to unexplored places or some shit, and you'll get the option to go to the tree of life or whatever it was called. Talk to the pokemon there and he'll let you.

If you're planning on evolving other pokemon, I'd say don't do it and just wait until you get their evolutions on your connection orb for living dex autism reasons

I hope that if they make another game, they use a combination of the old recruit system and the new connect system. Make it so that you can use the connect system to get at least one of each Pokemon, but if you want more of that Mon you can still recruit from dungeons. And still implement the random missions outside of the connect ones so that players don't run out of missions to do.

You're going to have to work harder with Torchic than the other Fire-type Starters. It gets little through level-up, and its starting movepool is only okay.

Piplup is one of the better Pokemon in the game, and its early access to Bubble and Bubble Beam makes it a fantastic sniper. However, if it is the partner, it will use nothing but Bubble/Bubble Beam unless it literally can't, so carry around Elixirs at all times.

Getting 5 missions on one level with motivated pokemon is a godsend. I think I'm actually done with water continent pokemon too, none appear there anymore.

Comes down to how far you are, but really motivated groups are probably the best way to get exp especially with an unown.

Although I'm doing the dungeon with nothing but Genesects at the moment and Typhlosion's tearing through them with heatwave for pretty good exp, although I gave him and my partner a bunch of vitamins.

Yeah, Dark Matter was easy. Yveltal was harder, but I beat him in one shot. Ban seed'd him and most of the attacks took out the other Poke's outside of MC and Partner. We literally just sat there and destroyed him while he attacked them.

I just did what that other guy did and brought tyranitar/heatran/cobalion.
make sure to customize their moves, their default is shit.
with those, kyurem himself is really easy. the dungeon isn't too hard, just note that some of the pokemon can kill you in 2-3 hits.

It seems that in this game you can cheese the hunger mechanic by swapping leaders. Each member has their own hunger stat which depletes only when they are leaders (or get attacked by specific Pokemon with hunger reducing moves). So depending on how strong your party members are apples aren't really needed until the 99 floor dungeons.

One thing that sucks about pierce hurling in this game is i dont think there's a way to get that AND 100% throw accuracy, unless theres an Emera I don't know about. Either way, it's still better than just drinking them.

You have more freedom with teams, but every pokemon is just slightly more generic to compensate. It doesn't really help that you can get every attack to max damage/ pp / accuracy and so the only things that matter are range and effects. I really wish we still had Explorers IQ skills, at least that was something.

Still, they're good games, and this is basically the 2nd best one. It just isn't quite as filling as EoS. More of a Roguelike, less of a PMD game. The quest system is neat, how it coincides with getting all the pokemon, and I love the way that the motivation system works, but the story's kind of weirdly paced and the postgame seems sort of bare from a non-completionist standpoint. Maybe the later quests change that, though.

Hell yeah it is. 40's and other mons will take a break because of your level gap too. That kinda sums up the gameplay for me too, yeah. From a completionist's standpoint it's got tons of content to dig into, but otherwise it's pretty empty, and the game goes so hard on the roguelike aspects that it doesn't feel as fulfilling to play in a sense. Like, I haven't gotten the same kind of lengthy satisfaction out of it that Sky gives me. I look at my file on Sky, still play it a lot, and even just seeing my team and all the places to go and explore feels fun. Super doesn't have the same appeal, partly because it's so ballbustingly hard. I know that it's -supposed- to be hard since it's a roguelike and all, but if I wanted a traditional roguelike, I'd go play Crawl or something.

It's still arguably the second best game, though, for sure.

Just focus on your duo mostly. Shared XP might be a thing, I didn't pay enough attention. Like the past games you can only bring your duo to story missions so having them at highest possible level is good.

yeah this is bar none the worst part of the game. Like i get they want you to use other mons but you can do that without actively denying usage. It's like if you were forced to box your starter and a couple other mons every gym or so in the mainline games

Exactly. I just want to use some others besides Feraligatr and Megnamium. Doesn't help that Megnamium is pretty garbage. Should have chosen Torchic or Cyndaquil.

Turns out ban seeds don't work for getting rid of Mewtwo's Recover. Neither does Grudge or Spite which I just found out.
Curse does like 577 to 596 damage TWICE on him though

Ive only played the game for a couple of hours.

They sent me on a mission to help an Axew fight a Salamence. And it was tough as 'fuck' with Axew dying immediately, and most of my parters too.

Luckily I fucking destroyed his ass with Flinch and Confusion spam.

Was I even 'meant' to do this mission!? They literally handed me a level 50 Salemence to use at the beginning of the game when I'm still level 13.

Another Question, whens the earliest I get a Snover or Abomasnow to play as? Want to make one my main after the game's over.

Yes. I think it was to teach you to use status and items. I used sleep control to beat it.

Use the Salamence once and it'll fuck off for about 10 expeditions. Also you can't use recruited pokemon on story missions
