Oh, what about next game, instead of the pokemon you end up having as your partner being a coward/loser/hyperactive, what about your partner starting out as the bully with a soft heart archetype, that, through being your friend and having you pull them back when they get too rough, you form a strong, solid friendship and deal with their issues to become more compassionate pokemon?

So, who else ditched their shitty starters as soon as they could?

I'm wrecking everything with Steelix/Rhyperior/Tyranitar, I don't understand why Rhyperior has so many ranged moves when its a fucking bulky rock/ground type though.

it depends on two things, level difference between your starter and that pokemon and also what evolution form it is in

for example if you have a level 50 starter, a level 50 Wurmple will almost never go absent but a level 100 Tyranitar almost always will

Much better than Gates, although the interface will feel very similar.

The general consensus is that it's just about second-to-Explorers of the Sky, so it's worth playing if you already have experience in the genre.

To the people complaining about slow leveling: if you beat the "Fossil Excavation" dungeon, you get a Golden Banana that raises your level by 5. If you equip the Water Bracelet gained by beating Cobalion and throw the banana, you can raise the level of two pokemon by 5.

Additionally, Spooky Sarcophogas Man begins selling Golden Bananas for 35 gold bars each.

You have to throw the Water bracelet itself, not the items, THEN you can throw the items. Best to do over a lake or pond, if they fall in the water you get double the EXP

Mega Evolution is handled with Awakening Emera, which is also temporary. You probably could mega evolve more than one at once, but it's highly unlikely.

Just finished the PSMD story.

It's strong, but definitely much, MUCH weaker than say, Explorers. Explorers felt as though you spent more time with your partner, and the reasons for you 'leaving' always made sense (time paradoxes yo).

This time around, the ending made me tear up, but it wasn't full blown sobbing. SMD didn't even make me sit through having to watch my partner retell the story over and over, and then having to have all the good memories resurface to make them sob again.

Gameplay was top notch though, I like having to actually use items this time around

Charizard's recruitment is irrelevant to the story. You can only bring your Starter/Partner with you on story missions, so having Charmander around isn't a bad decision. Quite the opposite, since it has access to both Flamethrower and Dragon Rage.

A mix of the recruitment methods would've been nice. Keeping the connection orb for actual NPCs who'd be working with that kind of technology, and recruit allies from dungeons like normal.

The Connection Orb thing is fine, honestly. It just doesn't have the "gotta catch 'em all" feel to it anymore. But that shouldn't turn you off from the game entirely.

This is my opinion though.

Actually it's because in EotS I only bothered recruiting the ones I was going to put effort into evolving and having optimal stats and movesets.
Now with the connection orb grid it would be just swap things whenever because apart having the appropriate pokemons for the appropriate dungeon nothing matters anymore, not even evolving.

Also, protip: bring a healthy amount of wands/orbs to help deal with the enemies, especially Guiding Wands to find the stairs.

Despite how long it could take to max iq in sky, it really made every pokemon stand out. There's a good chance your favorites have VASTLY different skills, letting them all stick out.

I've found myself needing to use Warp Wands over Petrify Orbs both because the former is more common than the latter and that the Warp Wands have an AoE centered on whatever you hit with the projectile.

I just want some stuff patched is all.

Give us a way to guarantee a pokemon will be usable and not away for days at a time, give us an option to turn off the random chance for partners to take attacks, and give us ways to make each pokemon stand out more.

I'm fine with the game being challenging, some stuff just needs to be fixed up. Sadly there's little chance any of this will happen.
