As it is, it shouldn't, since it seems to have more mass than a regular Beedrill, but Wasp do fly at high speeds taking in count how little mass they have.

And since Mega Evolution is mostly a power-up.. Well, asspull. Unless its inspired on a certain kind of wasp that has higher speed than the regular ones.

No, that's just an extremely weak fan theory of trying to explain the inconsistencies of the speed stat vs. the pokedex, but that actually has more holes in it. If that were true, all psychic pokemon (Or pokemon that can "read" the opponent like Lucario and Gallade) should be innately faster.
