Gold sparkles have vitamins, sitrus berries, Joy Seeds, more gold, that sort of thing. They're only visible when the leader holds the Excavation Looplet. Harder dungeons can have them more often

Play Blue Rescue Team and one of the Explorers games if you can. Don't worry about 100%ing the post-game, but the main stories for both are good. A lot of gameplay changes in SMD are probably going to make it hard to go back to the earlier games, so you should knock those out first. But all the stories are separate

Pretty sure it's just Flying type or Levitate, just like in the main game. Might do slight damage if you're obscenely beefed up as iirc the immunities are still imperfect.

SMD has a lot of references to the old games; if you haven't played them you'll miss a lot and the experience will be lessened. It'd also be a nice primer to the series, as SMD is sort of brutal at times, especially for newfags.

A lot of the "difficulty" stems from being used to the difficulty balance of the old systems, though. In the past we are used to relying on moves with items playing a very secondary role, in this one items play an essential combat role. A newcomer wouldn't necessarily find this all that difficult, it's just a different gameplay style.

Both if you don't one-hit the targets. Sleep or Petrify orbs are generally better though, in case the targets have moves that hit the entire room, as they'll still hit you.

Is there an objective best Tactic to set for your party? I want my party to follow me around (instead of going off alone) but attack enemies once they're able to (unless they're asleep which I think stops them from auto-attacking anyway until I do.)

I've tried Let's Go Together, Follow Me, and even the Fight All Foes one but I still notice they'll derp around with me and not even always attack until I've attacked once or twice, despite being in range.

Lost a lot of Reviver seeds but it was worth it for all the exp. I might need to get my team's Sp.Def and Sp.Att up a lot more and get Heat Wave's accuracy up before I can effectively grind there. Getting the Looplet from Raiku would help a lot too but that dungeon wrecked me even worse than the Geoglyph

My primary mode is Follow Me. This makes it so you'll be able to keep your party moving, despite some random enemy 20 tiles away what would be triggering attacks, but if you use an attack, even boosting move and your party members are in the same room as the enemy they will initiate an attack, assuming they are in range with the attacks they have.
Sometimes I will switch to Let's Go Together if my leader can't attack, so that way I can tactfully progress the enemy or move out of its line of fire while my partners will subdue the enemy.

My team just became official explorers and just discovered that Latios and Latias are stoned. How far into the game am I? And what kind of ride am I going to be in soon? No wipes so far, except for one time when I ran out of food and forced to use an escape orb.

The motivated Unown provides a x2 bonus, while all three provide a x3 in addition to the x2 from Unown. So you could take the Unown and two of your more useful Pokemon to a preferred dungeon while maintaining the x2 bonus.

There's no stat boost but if you don't mind losing the sleep animation then go for it. Personally I don't see why the sleep animation is such a deal breaker for so many people. I'd rather have a wider movepool, more STAB and resistances and possibly a better ability. You know, things that can actually help in the gameplay as opposed to a short, pointless animation.

According to Serebii you have to connect with Latios to connect with Xerneas in the Tree of Life, and you have to reach Master rank and do the mission to connect with Latias in order to connect with Latios.

Just realized how some dungeons lack certain evolutions. Nuzleaf, alongside the main characters of the story important to the plot,do not have any counterparts in dungeons. It's basically pre evolves, fully evolved, or some just MIA until you connect with them through connection orb. Probably due to 721 Pokemon they made the dungeons diverse. This game is quite deep. Meteors,Time Stopping,and Petrification while throwing the planet off orbit. What was Gates?

I don't think so, and the game's story was much better off for having a smaller but more focused cast. Also takes the strain off the partner to try and carry the whole story, because that shit did not work for me at all in Super.

Dunsparce is just an inferior Sky episode Bidoof though.

Well to me, most of the characters in Gates combat wise were complete shit bar a few.

Super has characters that actually fucking help in dungeons (which is much needed considering the difficulty at times) which in the end made me like them better.

I do agree that the more focused character pool made them more fleshed out, but I also really liked the exploration society characters. Archen seemed to be the responsible levelheaded one, Buizel the fighter that went in a little over his head at points, Mawile the wise and extremely powerful, etc.

Annoyingly, I found that Dunsparce scales really well with levels in PMD, but he can't be used on the later story dungeons. He becomes a boss wrecking machine at least in the limited post game.

Super had this weird thing going on for me - I liked the school kids as characters, but they didn't really do anything. The expedition society did things that were relevant to the plot, but I never cared for them as characters. Swirlix might be the dumbest character in the entire series. Super did have the best use of guest party members however.

I was expecting the same ending as Rescue Team regarding the fate of the player character but I have to admit that they got me with that switch.

Also I'm torn because I finally get to actually explore some dungeons without the tedious story interrupting constantly but I just realized after all that I really don't like the Pokémon I chose for me and my partner.

I liked the Voidlands not because they were particularly spooky, but because almost everyone in the world has been sent there as well. You, the guild, and Entai, Raikou, and Suicune are only a small number of the Pokemon trapped there.

I use a Petrify orb and take enemies out one by one since I don't usually have a room-hit move. The problem with that method is when an enemy uses a room-hit move or turns the weather to hail/sandstorm and unpetrifies all enemies.

This one is better if you want to play as all the Pokémon. I prefer the older one because it made obtaining legendaries a real feat and also helped me feel like I was actually building a team and not getting random Pokémon I barely know to do my grunt work for me while I get to keep all the payment.

Connection Orb is good because you don't have to deal with every low-level chump you KO asking to join your team and it ensures your roster doesn't end up bloated with a fuckton of duplicates. Downside is there are no random jobs, which means once you finish all of the jobs on the connection orb there's nothing left to do. Thankfully by that point you will have gotten all possible enjoyment out of the game, so it really doesn't matter.

It really didn't though. Eventually you reached a point where you had all the recruitment chance bonuses and could kill the boss in three hits with your normal attack. At that point it was just tedium until you finally hit that 3% recruitment chance

It also made team selection a clusterfuck of the same mons unless you memorized every mon you recruited and turned down every mon of the same species that constantly wanted to join you which got annoying fast. I'm doing a vitamin-less/Hawlucha Learn-less run and only have Arceus left, and with great success.

Unburden-Purrloin/Liepard
Rotom (All forms, but base form is preferred)
Volcarona or Magcargo (Volcarona preferred)

If Purrloin/Liepard happen to be on break at the same time I'll switch to Rhyperior or Cinccino.
One of the Rotom forms are always available, so no issue there.
Ampharos is a good substitute if Volcarona and Magcargo are on break.

If I can get as far as I have with little trouble hoarding all my vitamins and Lucha tokens I'd say they are pretty damn good.

If Magcargo could learn Heat Wave through remembering instead of the learn option I'd switch Ember out.

A single Hone Claws is enough to KO most Pokemon with Fury Swipes, and those who aren't are pretty much guaranteed to after another Fury Swipes or especially Assurance. With the other two following behind me however it almost never comes to me attacking two turns with Purrloin/Liepard, which saves a lot of party PP too.

I really enjoyed the avalanche of cliches in Explorers though. Because all I could do was yell TIMEEEEE COOOOOPS for like half the game.

You could see everything coming but I burned through it on a high of 90's action movies featuring pokemon. Though Dusknoir, Sceptile, and Celebi were clearly from 80's movies - with Celebi being the spunky hacker girl of course.

3d looks better yeah, but it depends what you're using. Unity does 3d easier, but overall 3d is always harder than 2d

When I was 6 years old I was playing in my backyard and two blue jays attacked me, pecking at my head for a few seconds. Seeing birds flying or flapping their wings freaks me the fuck out, but if they're just standing on the ground or something it isn't that bad. Blue jays flat out freak me out, like I get paralyzed in fear and can't move at all until it flies away.

Mordecai made me a little uncomfortable at first, but he's my 2nd favorite character. He doesn't look much like a Blue jay and doesn't act like one. He's chill as fuck.
