I feel like a lot of Ground-types could easily pass for normal-types. I get that a lot of them burrow but then what about things like say, marowak or this faggot:

What makes them inherently ground? With Fighting-types you often get the martial artist or detailed musculature. Poison-types are generally based on poisonous creatures or waste, water-types are either all fully or semi-aquatic with few exceptions (swanna, keldeo and volcanion off the top of my head), etc. Is there a unifying trait for ground-types?
tl;dr : i used to forget what pokemon were ground and which weren't. I don't know what type I thought Nidoqueen and Nidoking were when I first started playing, for example, which was complicated by the fact that they evolve by moonstone.
