In the anime Gary's Golem uses Magnitude in Ash's Charizard and it's super effective.

I suppose in the anime a Flying type can be grounded and caught with its guard down by a Ground type move.

If Pikachu just used an electric attack and it worked, you'd have a point, but Onix had to get wet first. When something is wet, it's more vulnerable to electricity.

This isn't like "aim for the horn!".

It's a completely different premise.
In YGO, they know that the holograms are that and the main thing is that they play for turns, and the the budget goes to THE turn that is able to turn the tables or secure the win.

In Pokémon they're living creatures. I guess I shouldn't explain more than that.

The monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! are not much more than children's trading cards, and thus they're confined to the turn-based boundaries of a children's card game.

The monsters in Pokemon are living creatures, and thus the anime doesn't confine them to the boundaries of a JRPG.

The logic behind Flying being immune to Ground is that since Flying-types can fly, attacks like Earthquake and Dig can't hit them. However, Sand-Attack is a Ground-type move (though it was Normal in Gen 1) and it can hit Flying-types, because it's sand being throw in their faces.

The anime isn't bound by restrictive RPG mechanics. Realistically, it would make zero sense for a creature to be immune to being hit with bones just because it can fly.

if anything this is how the game should work. flying isn't just straight up immune to ground, it's immune to certain ground moves and not others.

also, levitate shouldn't exist. there should just be an "airborne state" for certain pokemon, like beedrill and mega altaria. they are immune to ground hazards and most ground moves, but hit by things like bonemerang, drill run and mud bomb. flying types work the same way, only their move immunities aren't bypassed by mold breaker.

In the anime, Gengar of Team Meanies told an Arbok to eat berries by yelling "Go, Arbok!" There was no Arbok in that scene, only a Gengar, Ekans, Medicham, Chikorita, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Because the Yugioh anime is an adaptation of the Yugioh manga, while the Yugioh card game is a real world adaptation of the card game they play in the manga.
