While I'm here: I disagree. Mostly.
The designs of Pokemon have indeed changed. Mainly due to updated hardware and different designers but overall they're all still the same "fantasy cutesy or badass yet tangibly based on actual animals and objects" that has been the case since Green. So it's still the same philosophy and ideals behind them.
The message I tried to convey in

Not whether you like Magmar or Darmanitan.
It's not about if you want to fuck your Kirlia or if pokephillia triggers you.
It's not even about which pokegirl is best.
Iris Sure we can argue over that stuff like the autists we are, but that shouldn't get in the way of playing Pokemon.
Let me spell it out for everybody:

Genwunners should play the newer games with an open mind, they may come to like it and the designs of certain mons. I know I hated a lot of genV designs until I had to rely on them in Nuzlockes. Now I consider Watchog and Vanilluxe real bros.
And, newfigs should go back and play RBY and GSC just to see where it all began. That may allow them to appreciate all the conveniences in the newer games. I know it has for me. Thank Arceus for the phys/special split, for instance. Having your Gyarados' Bite do less damage than Tackle in GSC is fucking shit.
So go ahead.
Pick up that cartridge or ROM file. Play it. You might actually enjoy yourself.
