We saw Ash Greninja in Pokémon Tretta after the episode. It has an animation similar to mega evolution when it transforms, don't the animations from Tretta come straight from the main games? I'm willing to bet SOMETHING like Ash Greninja will be in Z.

On the left you can see a frame from the transformation in Pokémon Tretta. As far as I know, there have been no Tretta-exclusive animations so far, have there? They're all pasted/modified from the games.

Ash-Greninja is Mega Greninja. It just adapts to the appearance of its trainer, because it's a ninja and Protean and shit. That's its gimmick. Image the possibilities in a potential Z game when character customisation is back.

There's no Mega Stone though. Would be weird for it to have one in the games but not the anime since otherwise Mega Evolution works exactly the same in the latter. Plus the whole "trainer shares damage" thing.

This concept is better the more I think about it. Ash's main style of battling is pure offensive. Having to feel the brunt of smashing your face into the enemy is going to teach him to not let his pokemon get fucking hit.

It's probably an unfinished mega evolution. Like, the bond is so strong it will at one point create a mega stone that'll allow greninja to actually mega evolve.

Could be a nice way to expand the lore behind mega evolution, and why the link with trainers is important.
