What are some things you really dont like about pokemon games?

I want to make a pokemon rip off so I'd like to keep in mind things I shouldn't include. For example I don't like the HM system in pokemon, it shouldn't use up a move slot a least.

I don't like muh sonic ocs.

I do like it when your lead pokemon follows you around

I do like almost everything in pokemon emerald

Over the top edgy writing and OC characters. Story is nice but don't go crazy with it, something akin to Pokemon Legends of The Arena. It's a fan game with a fun and interesting story to drive the plot along but it doesn't go over the top.
