CrystalDust is the closest thing to a 1:1 remake in Emerald's engine / FRLG style but its been in development hell for years.

ShinyGold was the closest outside of the new self insert rival character who battles you at surprise moments. He doesn't dominate the plot though. Too bad it'll never finish
