>>24906221>It's not that they made bad games, it's that they didn't catch on.Because their mechanics are either very unintuitive and require a guide (World) or they're painfully grindy (World 2, 3, all of the Digimon Story games for DS). Digimon games were never as accessible as Pokémon is, and a lot of the time they weren't worth the effort getting to know them either.
I played World recently and I can appreciate its qualities now as an adult who appreciates autism, but when I was a child and watched a friend play it at his home, my only impression was that it was ugly, confusing, and tedious.
Doesn't help that the West was never made familiar with the v-pets.
