I just came across a copy of Pokemon Y in the street. What should my team be? I want to use a Vivillion but no idea about the other members of the team.

There's so much variety of pokémon in XY, seriously, 3 Regional pokédex (Central, Coastal and Mountain) with 150 EACH, Kalos has around 450 Pokémon NATIVELY.
Just choose your favorites, it's not worth to take tips from vee pee when you can just enjoy your style.

Just walk around a lot, you're bound to find one eventually. I also found a copy of White a couple months after it came out. The White copy didn't work though, it was in a puddle. I found Y in a snowbank this time.

Remember that you can use the GTS (Global Trading Station) to get some pokémon that could take a long time to become available. Phantump for example, only evolves via trading, so you should get one in GTS or you will only have a chance of getting Trevenant (the evolution) in the Route 20, near of the last gym.
