>>24967595What? There are only five Pokemon off the top of my head who are obviously based on Japanese culture: Jynx (Yamauba), Vulpix/Ninetails (kitsune), Chimecho (fuurin wind chime), Jirachi (tanabata) and Froslass (yukionna).
I guess there's also Raikou, Chingling, Arcanine, and Darmanitan. In my opinion, Mega Gyarados is obviously based on a koinobori, and then I suppose Klefki could be a ghost who took over a keychain (so a keychain youkai?) but that is really stretching it. Am I missing any? I'm sure I am but the vast majority of Pokemon aren't influenced by Japanese culture in some way.
