an overworld with wild pokemon freely roaming around like in the ranger games, so you have that in addition to tall grass random encounters

I don't even want them as abundantly as that, but I would like the oh shit! moment of being walking around doing something like looking for a tm and then a rare goes running by and you have to chase it and touch it to try and catch

That would be convinient considering there are two Day Cares ingame. They appeared even in the GSC manual. Why GF didn't implement them to this day is beyond me.
