I mean sure, not denying the negative threads/topics about ORAS but It's not like it was a colossal failure overall. There are probably enough people (outside the internet) that did like ORAS.
Anyway, I don't want to argue about ORAS, I want to agree with your post. I think it's not about how many games there are but that it is about how good the games actually are. Quality over quantity, always. That's why I don't like it when people act so entitled and spoiled when there isn't a main game announced yet.
I mean, of course you are allowed to desire a new main series game. But do respect that in order to make quality games, you need to give developers the time they need in order to make a quality title. I'm happy it takes so long desu.
