Anyhow, let's talk. What do you hope they add/fix in the re-release? Have be gotten any confirmation that there'll be actual Wifi battles or just local wireless?

I also hope that they fix the buggy moves so stuff like Focus Energy actually works.

Optimally they would keep the MissingNo and Mew glitches but atleast fix stuff like literally broken moves like Focus Energy

I have 6 badges in Red and haven't encountered any glitches.
I currently have Rhyhorn, Exeggutor, Arcanine, Jolteon, Dodrio, and Lapras on my main team. I change my team for gyms.

If a move has an effect in gen 1, it is the correct effect. Other games may have changed the effect to something else, but gen 1 is correct in all things pertaining to pokemon.

There was a glitch in gen 1 where if you used an attack on a Pokemon where one type was SE and one was NFE, it would display the wrong message.

I'm glad they're keeping the original code (except for battling/trading online). Also I'm glad they kept the graphics the same. Gen 1 is the best gen.

Having recently replayed Red on emulator, it's quite _____fun.

The meta is an entirely different beast. Critical hits makes Tauros, Jolteon and Persian viable.
Fire spin and Wrap are literally hitler.
Getting Frozen is a death sentence (enjoy those 130BP, 90% accuracy Blizzards).

Also, for in-game, Gengar single-handedly stops most-everything cold since the AI is retarded and will often only carry Normal moves.

But besides that it's just gen 1. Fire red and Leaf green were great remakes. I don't see the need to play the originals again.

I played it on emulator (along with G/S) just to see how many bugs I could exploit.
Turns out, quite a lot. I had filled my Pokédex by the 25th hour mark for RBY. 251 by around hour 70 in GSC. No trading, no AR cheat codes used, just bugs.

For RBY: The extended Mew Glitch:
Basically, encounter a long-range trainer (west of Lavender city or the grass patch near nugget bridge). Immediately press start, yada yada. All you need to encounter any Pokémon you want is you need to face a pokémon with Special stat same as the Pokémon's index number (eg: for Mew you need to face a Pokémon with a special stat of 14 iirc). You can exploit it by facing ditto, which can transform into your lead Pokémon, copy their special stat allowing you to face just the Pokémon you want.
Catch a few Abra, lvl-up via rare candies from MissingNo until they hit right index number (eg: I think Charmander is 187), then face a ditto and catch the Pokémon. Easy.

For GBY: extended Coin case glitch.
Have a specific set of items in your item bank, have a Pokémon with low DVs in third spot of party and a Quagsire with Protein held and Sleep Talk as its first move in your fourth slot. You can now edit the game's code.

its a glitch that makes you encounter a pokemon you are not intended to encounter, with its species determined basically by the pokemon of the trainer you used to activate it (whatever that one guy north of nugget bridge has, rolls species number of glitch to mew in that case).

I felt like that game was harder than the other games. That team galaxy leader gave me a real challenge, cyrus or whatever.

Also there was an abondance of poison types if I recall correctly. Or I just happen to create a team of only poison types:

It obviously isn't a remake, but I'd be legitimately surprised if /nothing/ was changed. I mean they're giving away mews to people who buy it day 1 in Japan, I doubt they want that to be totally circumvented by everyone being able to grab a mew with the mew glitch.

the gap between your team and the E4 is no bigger than it is in most games. compared to the champion, level gaps with your team are:
RB: ~16
GSC: ~12

based off the several no-grind playthroughs i've done over the years. it's a relatively constant difference except in gen 5 where you're much closer.
