Haven't played this in a while so I really don't know which generation is the best, what do you guys think? What should I get?

What games have you played?

My vote goes to either Platinum or Black/White.

Black2/White2 are also something to look forward to if you enjoy your time.

So I also recommend smartphone emulating Crystal or play HGSS. But I assume you've already played the first couple games.

Honestly play any of them, but only bother playing the most up to date version of each region (except Unova, and maybe Hoenn)

Emerald (OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire is newer but more different than it is an improvement, missing a lot of shit from Emerald)

Black/White (Then Black 2/White 2)

Depends on the last game you played. If you haven't played since like Gen 1 or 2 then I'd recommend starting with FRLG. If you've played quite a bit then I'd just pick something in the top two tiers in pic related (and obviously don't play Black and White 2 without playing Black and White 1, since it's a direct sequel and not just a third version).
