Help me put a dispute to rest, /vp/. My friend says that, even prior to Gen 6 (he says since gen 2) a fainted Pokémon could evolve if it leveled up before fainting. I know for a fact this wasn't the case, because in Black 2 I had to level my Tepig up to 18 because it fainted after getting to level 17. The Internet seems divided too, with some people saying it's always been like that, and others saying that's a load of shit.

So which is it?
