If it plays like that other game they made, you'll simply travel around and a random Pokemon will be generated for the region. It's fairly possible that there will be ones you have to kind of "race" to catch against other players (either regular standard mons or "boss" Pokemon which would be like final stage ones)

At landmarks, there will likely be a final boss Pokemon you and others can fight together (see Mewtwo in the trailer), and then everyone probably gets that Pokemon in the area if you helped.

How would it work with multiplayer? I doubt phones can track the position of other phones.

Maybe it takes a picure of the spot where they battle happens and whenever the camera sees that part, it'll show the pokemon?

Or most likely, there is no AR and it's just a shit version of the game like the end of the trailer shows. I don't got high hopes for this.

Yeah, there's magic leap but we don't even know what that is yet. I know for sure that whatever technology it is, none of our current smartphones will be able to use it.

I think we are long past due for AR pokemon battles, where using the proximity of the other player standing in front of you it can caculate where the ground is and project the 3d battle models withing that space. worst case scenario you just need to put card on the ground to help with tracking. But its really simple technology that amateurs can make in highschool.

Also just my prediction: The Pokemon will vary by region, not specific location. There will be about 60 mons available in the Northeast, 60 mons available in the South, etc. Encountering Pokemon will be generated with a completely random algorithm and not the "lol hope i dont die trying to catch rare pokemon in the ghetto" meme that keeps going around.

Pokemon GO will be available for download on all mobile platforms starting February 30th, 2016.

The game will be free to play and feature the entire pokedex, including a few pokemon which have not been revealed yet.
