Also, they had the best gen tie-in spin-off games - as much as I like mystery dungeon now, it took a while to mature over the course of multiple gens, while Colloseum and XD were good fun and actually let you get things with non-standard moves (admittedly they were mostly shit, but it was fun as fuck).
Gen 3 is my overall favourite gen, while 1 is my least favourite (not that I wouldn't buy and play a decent modern remake. Sevii islands sucked though, it should have just been a single massive area, not gated little areas that made the breeding center shit, and forced you to use the ferry over and over, plus basically no story.)
3D Kanto, done well, is equal on my want list with Z or Emerald remade, and all 3 are only slightly behind my gen 7 want, so any announcement for any of those would be great.
