Anyways, the recent FE games are terrible SRPGs, if you want a decent one that isn't FF Tactics, play Advance Wars, Disgaea, or Soul Nomad.

Playing through FEA now actually and apart from some cringe dialogue its not too bad. Then I again I haven't played a ton of tactical RPGs. Why is it apparently terrible?

I'll never understand what people like about Awakening. I can't speak for other FE games, but Awakening was honestly really bad.

Fates seems like it's suffering from the same problems except this time they chopped the story up and selling it to you for twice the price of a normal game.

Because aside from the "forwards" in customizability (which purists will disapprovingly say makes the games even easier), the mission variety and "fairness" in difficulty takes steps back.

Personally I think the series peaked with FE7.

It's partially the game, partially the controller. If you happen to be in the ideal environment and have a controller with functioning motionplus (built in or no), you'll be fine. If even one thing is off, though, it becomes a slog. I've found most of the time the people with problems are the people that just have the motionplus attachment.

Same. I didn't enjoy the gameplay even in the demo but was told the story, characters, and marriage system made it worth it.

And of course, after trying it myself I found all of it was lackluster and half-assed. There was nothing about the game to enjoy. It's probably the 3ds game I regret buying the most.

Awakening had a few kinks here and there, maps could've been better, pair up system was pretty clunky, but to say it was a bad game is just fanboyism to the extreme. Whenever you see "fans" of a series, they shit their pants whenever something changes that they dont like, however small, and even if the game is good, it becomes, in their eyes "worst game ever 0/10 shit would not play".

I've played every game in the series outside of Thracia. Awakenings the same as the rest.

SS does seem to be regarded as just kind of mediocre even outside of zelda circles. I know people whose first loz game was TP or WW, as well as generally feeling OOT was nice but dated, and thought SS was disappointing.

I would be interested in a pokegame that added a stat for crit and possibly accuracy but I don't think they'd pull it off well. Ex shitmons like raticate and kricketune have high base crit stats so maybe they have an extra 15 percent crit chance at most on their moves. But like I said, it's interesting in theory but would likely be a mess in practice

Honestly I just wish Triple/Rotation Battles were fucking USED more

Having travelling companions was fun in 4th, however brief. I can't remember if there were a lot of that in 5th or 6th
