Did not happen? Most kids where going in to play with the pokemon they loved plus the new ones. The games hadn't landed on "new mon is the draw!". New Mon weren't the draw they where the reward

It being a sequel was the draw. It's why every building in Johto and Gym leader reflects the original 151.(That and terrible mon distributions) You don't just get your nice new mon, you have to go through a pack of bullshit to even glimpse one. Enjoy Sudowoodo fucker

Its dumb now and should have been fixed in HGSS
