I constantly see people screaming some actress or VA is being opressed because shes playing a character in a show that is demeaning to females.
The person AUDITIONED. for the part. They're not doing it against their will, they did it because they were interested in playing the role.
Its like we can't have conflict in stories anymore, A women can't be a villain unless shes one in control, she can't be weak, she can't be a damsel, she can't be portrayed sexual or deviant in any manner even if thats what the character is supposed to be.
It kills Character archetypes.
All we have left is Strong Woman Hero, and Strong woman Villain
