I wish the new seasons would be more like this. The fun/quirky aspects made it tolerable to watch, as opposed to just being an extended commercial for games and merchandise. The writers definitely had more creative flexibility.

The first couple seasons really did have a lot more soul to them. I liked it when it was just a fun show, instead of a nerdy "muh lore" wank.

When Ash, Misty and Brock first encounter Tommy, the gag of Misty telling Tommy to apologize was changed for the dubbed English version. In the original Japanese version, Tommy spaces out and stares at Misty's breasts which the camera zooms in on. Afterwards she asks "What's up?" to which Tommy responds "Can I drink from your breast?" She gets very angry, and hits him, and says "How dare you say that?" For the dubbed English version, the shot of Misty's breasts was cut, and he asks "You people or Pokémon?" She gets very angry, hits him and says "I'm a person, you creep!" (However, the 'zooming' sound effect can still be heard.)

Well shit, this episode was on TV recently.

It's pretty jarring to watch the first seasons of the anime compared to XY. I don't know if it's just the dub or what, but Ash really has matured over the course of the series (despite still being 10) compared to when he first started. But it's so gradual if you've been watching for all these years.

Ash beng a godawful newfag was the greatest. It was both funny and charming. As he got better, his personality kind of gradually disappeared. He's became a very bland and dull character. He's gotten better in XY though. Everything has.

That's never been a thing. Are you perhaps confusing becoming a master to becoming champion or something along those lines, because they already made it a point where winning a league doesn't mean someone's a master.

Actually becoming the champion shouldnt stop ash from exploring other regions while being a celebrity. And also, it would grant him access to many other pokemon related secrets of the world thus making it interesting

They can, come on, just think about it. Just like in the games, you don finish after beating the league, after that, the game becomes more challenging, and you get to face even stronger opponents, deal with legendaries, you learn about the secrets of the pokemon world. They just dont want to.Maybe to use it as a "back up" for if the series is going through hard times. that would be lame.

Not in Gen 6 where there's literally nothing to do after beating the Champion unless you enjoy Mary Sues like Looker and Zinnia.
