Basically, organization of money can let you have more things you want, even with shitty pay. I recommend using something like Mint to make a budget, and make one for you-stuff that rolls over at the end of the month, so if you don't use it, you have twice the amount, then three times, and so on.
On another level--get good at negotiating. I managed to cut off $200 a month from my apartment. That's an extra $2400 per year I get to keep...simply because I spent ten minutes with the building manager. Basically, when negotiating, if just asking in the first place doesn't work (It often does), make compromises that give you extra value. For work, agree to oversee something for compensation, or for rent, negotiate it down by signing a longer lease, etc... The extra money will let you do a lot of things. (Not to mention negotiation is a super-handy ability to have, and can get you pretty far in life.)
On a more money-oriented level, invest! Even if you don't have much money, if there is anything you can afford to not use, you should make that money work for you. You'll thank yourself later.
