As the leader, it's more important to have at least a little bulk, and Water typing helps with that. Most fights involve you duking it out with an enemy Pokemon while your good for nothing partner twiddles their thumbs behind you. Fennekin is a great partner because Psybeam and Ember can jump past you and hit the enemy. You'll want Bubblebeam to help close the distance between ranged enemies, but you'll also want some decent attacking moves for up close. Piplup gets Fury Attack. Multi hit moves are broken as all fuck, so enjoy.
