>>25127683>FRLGYellow is an anime-themed fourth version. It wouldn't make sense to put anime references in the game. The only substantial things from Yellow that could've been ported over without being weird would be following Pokémon and Mewtwo's dungeon; the former I guess was too much work to do before HGSS, the latter is just a design choice since the RG dungeon is the same size as the Blue dungeon and Yellow dungeon. The third version of RG added literally nothing that could be ported over besides its own Mewtwo dungeon (see above), because everything else was either bugfixes, sprite changes, or changes to the wild encounter table.
As to Crystal and HGSS, see pic related, I made it specifically for this argument a while ago. Not everything was ported over but more was than wasn't, while almost nothing is ported from Emerald.
