>>25124656The thing about Yu-Gi-Oh is that the OS, GX, and 5D's were all in the same timeline and had continuity with each other. Previous characters appeared in each iteration and past events were mentioned. There was even a movie where Yugi, Yusei, and Jaden all fought together.
Zexal was disliked because it was trying to be a reboot of OS as well as having no references to the past series. The reason why Arc-V is loved so much is because it does have references and past characters but in a way where it can still be it's own thing.
They do the same thing in the anime but don't switch protagonists. Switching protagonists would mean these past characters and references wouldn't come up anymore because it's not Ash. And I doubt if we get a new protagonist that it would even be in the same universe as Ash's.
